The golf course is considered by many to be one of the very best in the country. Arnold Palmer designed Spring Island's Old Tabby Links. Old Tabby Links signature hole, number 17, has been ranked third within the Kings Dream 18. Its a beautiful 180 yarder on a thin spit of land sandwiched between the golden marshes of the Chechessee River on the right, and the spring-fed rookery on the left. The course was ranked 19th among the top 100 residential courses in America by Golf Week Magazine (2004). The initiation fee is $125,000 with semi-annual dues of $3,820; POA dues are $2,450 annually.

Facilities include a modern 24-stall barn surrounded by 15 grass paddocks. There are two riding rings, one for hunters and jumpers, and one for pleasure and beginning riders. The equestrian facility is set among live oaks, pines and palmettos and covers about 20 acres. Members enjoy the 35 miles of trails that wander through open fields, through tall forests, along the marsh and ponds that contribute so much to the beauty of the Island and riding experience. Members hunt Pleasant Hill Plantation, a beautiful 2,600 acre leased property that is about 45 minutes from Spring Island. Meals and overnight accommodations in the Plantation house are enjoyed at Pleasant Hill during the season.

In addition, the club regularly books a variety of musical talent, including cabaret pianists, choral groups, gospel music groups, classical guitarists, New Orleans jazz bands and Chamber Music quartets.
