Finnegan received a B.A. in French from Miami University of Ohio and spent a year of study in Aix-en-Provence, France. She was a licensed stockbroker in southern California before moving with her husband and 2 daughters to Daufuskie Island, S.C. 17 years ago. Finnegan secured grants to restore a historic schoolhouse on Daufuskie and helped produce a documentary about the island that aired on South Carolina public TV.
Her uncle used to ferry Pat Conroy, author of "The Water is Wide," over to teach on Daufuskie. Though Finnegan was born and raised in Ohio, her maternal family, the Pickneys, settled in Bluffton more than a hundred years ago. She has been involved with Leadership Hilton Head, the Beaufort County Preservation Review Board and the Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation. After a long relationship with the Low Country, she is looking forward to sharing that knowledge and experience with future clients.
